Hello all, today I'm going to talk about the 3D tools in Photoshop CS5 extended.
I believe even CS4 can do it but CS3 or lower does not have this tool.
Okay so start by opening a new document.
I made mine 1024 x 1024
Next go to 3d > new layer from 3d file, then browse to a obj file.
Now we have a 3D file that can also be rotated and moved when you hit K and click and drag with your mouse.
Next go over to the 3D window and click the folowing to get to difuse. When you hit difuse you can navigate to your desired texture. Also make sure that it can see all file types.
Now our texture is on the 3D model and we can rotate it and view it for inspection and editing to fix it.
We can paint directly onto the 3D model and have it appear on our flat file. First though I like to make the texture unlit so that if you are colour picking shadows are not causing you to make incorrect choices.
Now grab your brush and paint onto the 3D model.
If you double click this file in the layers it will bring up your file that you will later save for web as a png file.
You can work back and forth between the two files for better results.
You can use most tools right onto the 3d file, such as clone stamp, eraser, brush... so on and so forth. Zoom in for better detail and control of your tools.
This is extremely useful for designing textures. So have fun playing with it.
If you dont have CS5, you can download the trial version for a month off of the Adobe website.
